Iowa Egg Council has chosen Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship (IDALS) as the recipient of the Iowa Egg Council Partner Award. The Iowa Egg Council Partner Award recognizes, each year, a collaborator that helps deliver on the mission of creating opportunities to increase the value and consumption of eggs and egg products.
In response to IDALS being named the 2020 Iowa Egg Council Partner, Mike Naig, Secretary of Agriculture said, "Thank you for selecting the Department for this award! I am proud of the work our team has done under some very challenging circumstances. We always remember that those we serve are dealing with challenges that threaten their livelihoods...that's important perspective in all of this."
"I am pleased that we are able to recognize our partnership and look forward to celebrating this with our members. Iowa egg producers have benefitted greatly from the expertise and support of IDALS. I can think of no group more deserving of the Iowa Egg Council Partner Award than the Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship," said Kevin Stiles, Iowa Egg Council Executive Director.
The Iowa Egg Council and the Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship have modeled a terrific partnership. They support each other, work together on countless projects and the staff model collaboration throughout the year. This recognition notes the collaboration in many areas, but especially this spring's efforts around COVID-19 relief for egg farmers including support for CFAP funding, bird disposal cost recovery, Pack-the-Pantry and other support and collaboration.
This is the fourth year Iowa Egg Council has recognized a "partner award" for the Iowa egg industry. Prior winners include Fareway Stores, the Egg Industry Center and the Food Bank of Iowa. The Iowa Egg Council Partner award will be presented virtually on September 24th during the Iowa Poultry Association Fall Festival and Annual meeting awards celebration.
