The U.S. broiler market is facing a surplus of cheap, dark meat which may affect the market for other broiler meat.
In a WATT Poultry Chat interview, Mark Jordan, executive director of LEAP Market Analytics, analyzed the current market for dark broiler meat in the U.S. and the forces driving prices. Due to factors such as weaker than normal export demand, there is plenty of cheap dark meat available.
This will likely affect other parts markets as the broiler industry transitions into what is typically a slower season for meat demand.
