Cherkizovo Group reported a 7% year-over-year increase in chicken sales volume for the third quarter of fiscal year 2020, but a 8% decrease in its turkey sales volume.

The Russian meat, poultry and grain producer reported its quarterly sales on October 12.

Chicken sales

For the most recent quarter, sales volumes for Cherkizovo’s Petelinka chicken brand increased 4%, while sales volumes for its Chicken Kingdom chicken brand increased 2%. The company’s overall sales volume for chicken products for the quarter was 175.9 thousand metric tons.

In the third quarter export sales for the chicken division continued to perform strongly, the company stated, while demand from foodservice clients gradually recovered and almost reached the level of the previous year by the end of the quarter. The average sales price declined by 3%.

Turkey division

Tambov Turkey, which is a joint venture between Cherkizovo and Spanish company Grupo Fuertes, achieved a sale volume of 10.2 thousand metric tons, which was down 8% on a year-over year basis, with average sales price higher by 7%.

Pork division

Production volumes of 69.8 thousand metric tons for its pork division increased by 5% year-over-year, and sales volume reached 68.4 thousand metric tons up 6% when compared to the third quarter of 2019.

The average sales price increased by 10% when compared to 2019, as the growth of domestic production slowed down and prolonged barbeque season on the back of good weather supported demand.

Meat processing

Cherkizovo’s meat processing division’s sales volume increased by 4% when compared to the previous year, as sales of the cuts increased, and sales volumes of sausages and carcasses were stable. Average sales price of the segment increased by 6%, pushed by carcass and sausages price growth of 8% and 5%, respectively.

Cherkizovo Group, according to the Poultry International Top Companies survey, is the largest poultry producer in Russia, and ranks as the seventh largest poultry company in Europe and the 28th largest in the world. It slaughtered 318.8 million broilers during the past year.
