Russia imports fewer pork products

Country sees higher domestic pork production

Russia's Federal Customs Service reports Russia imported pork worth US$202 million in October, as compared to US$218 million in the same month last year, according to Interfax news agency.

The annual decline in pork imports in October may have resulted from higher domestic pork production. Pork accounted for approximately 32% of Russian meat imports in October, as compared to approximately 31% in the same month in 2008.
