Two months after Hilly Acres Farms recalled eggs due to Salmonella concerns, the company is issuing another recall for similar reasons.

According to a notice from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) the eggs included in the latest recall were only distributed in Newfoundland and Labrador, and all included the lot code N38.

Eggs included in the recall included:

  • Farmer John Eyking large size eggs, sold in dozen cartons, carrying the UPC code 0 73557 00002 1, with best before dates of December 27, January 3 or January 10.
  • Farmer John Eyking large size brown eggs, sold in dozen cartons, carrying the UPC code 0 73557 00005 2, with best before dates of December 27, January 3 or January 10.
  • Nova Eggs, large size white eggs, sold in cartons of 18, carrying the UPC code 0 59001 90118 2, with a best before date of January 10.

This recall was triggered by test results, and no illnesses have been reported. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated food recall warnings.

The CFIA is verifying that the industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace.

The latest recall is of a smaller scale than one issued for Hilly Acres Farms on October 9. In that instance, the recalled eggs included those carrying the labels Farmer John Eyking, Eyking Delite, Compliments, Maritime Pride, Nova Eggs, Nova Eggs Ultra, Nova Eggs Eggsquisite and Great Value. There are also several lines of generic eggs included in the recall. Those eggs were distributed in Newfoundland and Laborador and in Nova Scotia.
