Cagle's reports positive quarterly net income

Company bounces back from previous quarter

Cagle's reported net income of $700,000, or $0.15 per share, for the second quarter of fiscal year 2010, compared to a net loss of $5.5 million, or $1.18 per share, for the second quarter of fiscal 2009.

For the first six months of fiscal 2010, net income was $2 million, or $0.43 per share, compared to a net loss of $8.5 million, or $1.82 per share, for the first six months of fiscal 2009.

Quoted market prices for the second quarter of fiscal 2010 fluctuated, versus the same period last year, as boneless breast increased 6%, breast tenders increased 22%, wings increased 49%, drums decreased 14%, leg quarters were 24% lower and whole birds without giblets were 6% less.
