New appointments at Kelly Turkeys

Kelly Turkeys adds new team members to help expands its food production and farming activities.

In its 50th anniversary year two new appointments have been made by Kelly Turkeys as the company expands its food production and farming activities.

Toby Kelly – grandson of the business founders Derek and Mollie Kelly – will be focusing on launching new charcuterie and slow-cooked products, while international gymnast India Wellings joins the management team in the agricultural side of the business.

Since graduating from Newcastle University Toby spent more than two years working for BMW Group and a further 18 months with PayByPhone.

The charcuterie products will be utilizing and adding value to byproducts from Christmas production and from the turkeys used in the breeding programme. Traditionally, this has been sold off to meat wholesalers and the pet food industry.

“Developing our new products will not only add value but give us an all-year, consumer-orientated product to complement our Christmas offering,” said Toby Kelly.

India Wellings stayed on at Writtle College, Chelmsford, after completing her studies and progressed to a farm manager role responsible for a breeding flock of ewes, herd of cattle, grassland management and the arable contract.

She has made a name for herself in athletics and gymnastics, representing Essex in many competitions and also GB in acro-display gymnastics.
