UK chicken farm proposal draws protest

Residents concerned about traffic, odor

According to reports, residents of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, in the UK are protesting plans to build a free-range chicken facility that would accommodate 16,000 birds.

The plan calls for the facility to be built on a conservation area.

Village residents are concerned about noise, traffic and odor issues. Council officers have recommended permission for the facility be denied at an upcoming planning committee meeting.
