Gambian farmer urges others into poultry industry

Farmer says demand for poultry products high in Gambia

Reports say a poultry farmer in the Western African nation of Gambia is urging his fellow farmers to add poultry to their endeavors.

Samsideen Jammeh, a poultry farmer in Makumbaya village in the Kombo North District, believes poultry is a vital part of the country’s presidential call for citizens to go “back to the land.”

According to Jammeh, the demand for chicken, meat and eggs is very high in the country. Within two years he has grown his own operation to 500 birds.
