Philippines lifts duty on holiday chicken imports

Imports to ease holiday season high poultry demand

According to reports, the Philippine government will allow eight million kilos of poultry into the country duty-free. This comes as the holiday season nears among fears of shortages.

Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap requested that the country’s Bureau of Customs temporarily suspend the Special Safeguard (SSG) duty during the anticipated shortage.

The chicken imports will start November 30 and go to the end of January.
