Cal-Maine Foods’ corporate headquarters are no longer located in Jackson, Mississippi. However, the company did not move far.
The largest egg producer in the United States is now located in Ridgeland, a suburb of Jackson, which is situated to the north of the city.
While the company did not announce the move and declined to comment on the situation, Madison County Economic Development Authority (MCEDA) confirmed it with Online Madison. Cal-Maine now shares a building with Harper Rains Knight & Company, a firm of certified public accountants and financial strategists.
“This did not originate with us, but we are excited they decided to move their headquarters,” said MCEDA Executive Director Joseph Deason. “They are a good company with a good brand and we are happy to welcome them to the county, and specifically to the city of Ridgeland.”
Jackson is in Hinds County.
MCEDA didn’t reveal when the company moved its corporate headquarters, but it apparently happened in the final weeks of May. A press release issued by Cal-Maine Foods on May 12 included a Jackson dateline, while the next release, issued on June 1, had a Ridgeland dateline.
At the conclusion of 2020, Cal-Maine Foods had a flock of 44.26 million hens, making it not only the largest egg company in the United States, but also in the world. Mexico’s PROAN is the world’s second largest producer.
Earlier in 2021, Cal-Maine Foods had been in a joint venture with Rose Acre Farms, the second largest egg producer in the United States and third largest in the world, with each owning half of the Red River Valley Egg Farm near Bogata, Texas. However, on June 1, Cal-Maine finalized the purchase of Rose Acre Farms’ stake in Red River Valley Egg Farm, which has about 1.7 million hens.
A publicly traded company, Cal-Maine Foods will report the financial results of the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2021 on July 19, 2021.
