A worker at the Perdue Farms facility in Perry, Georgia, has been arrested on suspicion of shooting 17 rounds into a co-worker’s vehicle.

According to a report from The Telegraph, the suspect, Daryl Delonte Thomas, is now in custody at the Houston County Detention Center and has been charged with aggravated assault, possessing a firearm while committing a crime, and discharging a firearm near a public highway. He is being held without bond.

Thomas, had allegedly got into an argument with a co-worker, James Johnson, earlier in the day on August 15, and when Johnson left work, Thomas was allegedly waiting for him, having the road blocked. Johnson told authorities that when he tried to drive around Thomas, he fired multiple shots into his car.

Johnson, however, was not injured.

Two days later, Thomas was arrested. Investigators found several rifle casings at the scene, and it was determined that 17 rounds were fired into Johnson’s car. Sheriff’s deputies allegedly found what they referred to as an assault rifle in Thomas’ vehicle.

The alleged incident occurred just two days after another argument turned into violence at a Carolina Pride pork plant in Greenwood, South Carolina. In that case, Rodriguez Lavorsia Greene was arrested after allegedly drawing a handgun in the cafeteria and firing several times, striking two employees. Neither victim received life-threatening injuries.

Other acts of violence to take place within the past year at poultry and pork plants in the United States include:

  • The fatal stabbing of a man in the locker room of a Prestage Farms pork plant in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The suspect, Lukouxs Brown, was deemed incompetent to stand trial.
  • The stabbing of a person at the Wayne Farms facility in Decatur, Alabama. The suspect, Detavious Sellers, was charged with second-degree assault.
  • The fatal shooting of a man in the parking lot of a House of Raeford Farms poultry plant in Rose Hill, North Carolina. The suspect, Antwan Terrell Wright, was arrested on suspicion of the shooting in February, after more than two months on the lam.
