Miles Dally has announced his intent to retire as the CEO of RCL Foods, effective November 30, 2021. Paul Cruickshank has been selected to become the new CEO on December 1.

Dally informed RCL’s board of his decision to take normal retirement in accordance with the company policy. He will also resign from the RCL board, the company recently announced.

“The board would like to extend its sincere thanks and appreciation to Miles for his invaluable leadership and contribution throughout his 18 years of committed service to the company and to wish him a long and healthy retirement,” the company stated in its announcement.

Cruickshank has been an employee of RCL Foods since 2004, and in the past 17 years, “he had gained extensive experience across commercial, supply chain and operational functions,” the company stated.

Presently, Cruickshank is serving RCL Foods as the chief operating officer of the food division.

RCL Foods, a publicly traded company headquartered in Westville, South Africa, is Africa’s second largest poultry producer. It operates more than 200 farms and distributes goods across South Africa, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Uganda and Zambia. According to the WATTPoultry.com Top Companies Database, it breeds and rears its own animals and controls four subsidiaries: Rainbow Farms, TSB Sugar, Foodcorp and Vector Logistics. It also holds a majority ownership of ZamHatch.

Its key brands include Rainbow, Farmer Brown and Rainbow Food Solutions.

In 2020, the company slaughtered 202 million broilers, making it the 49th largest broiler producer in the world. However, those 2020 figures showed a decline in production when compared to 2019, when it was tied with Astral Foods as the world’s 36th largest poultry producer, slaughtering 260 million broilers that year.

RCL Foods is also a major animal feed company, producing feed under the brands Epol and Molatek.

Remgro, a South African investment holding company, holds a majority of RCL’s shares.
