The Scandi Standard board of directors appointed Jonas Tunestål as the company’s new managing director and CEO.

Tunestål is currently Executive Vice President of Danish Crown and CEO of KLS Ugglarps, Danish Crown’s Swedish business. Tunestål will join Scandi Standard on May 1, 2022, at the latest.

Interim managing director and CEO Otto Drakenberg will remain with Scandi Standard until Tunestål officially joins the company next year.

Tunestål has extensive experience from the meat industry, having spent his entire career within KLS Ugglarps in a number of different positions. Since 2014 he has been the CEO of KLS Ugglarps and Executive Vice President of Danish Crown, where he has more than doubled KLS Ugglarps profits through increased efficiency, organic growth and acquisitions. Jonas Tunestål was born in 1979 and holds an Executive MBA from University of Lund.

"I am excited to join the Scandi Standard team and contribute to the further development of its strong market positions in the Nordic region and Ireland. Scandi Standard is an interesting company with high ambitions in an exciting value chain with lots of opportunities," Tunestål said in a press release.

"Jonas Tunestål is a great fit for the job to realize the full potential of Scandi Standard, as the demand for chicken products increases given both taste-, health- and ESG considerations. His strong track record of creating sustainable profitability in a fast-growing environment, together with his proven leadership skills were two of the things that guided our choice. I would also like to extend my deep appreciation to interim CEO Otto Drakenberg for his thorough and professional work with turning the business around," said Johan Bygge, chairman of the Scandi Standard board.

Drankenberg was hired as the interim CEO and managing director following the May 31 termination of Leif Bergvall Hansen.

Meanwhile, Danish Crown stated that it is immediately starting the process to hire a successor for Tunestål.

“It is with great regret that I have received Jonas' resignation. He has undergone fantastic development both as a manager and as a business developer. In a competitive market, he and his team have delivered a strong result, which means that today KLS Ugglarps is the market leader in Sweden, said Jais Valeur, Danish Crown CEO.
