Aviagen pledges support to Auburn University poultry center

Aviagen pledges support for Auburn University's poultry center.

Aviagen cares about the sustainability of the global industry, and investing in the education of future poultry professionals is key to its long-term success. Putting a commitment to the industry and education into practice, Aviagen North America recently pledged financial support for the Auburn University Charles C. Miller Jr. Poultry Research and Education Center. 

The amount will be contributed in equal yearly installments spread over five years, earmarked mainly for: 

  • Financial assistance for the ongoing operation of the Miller Center as a premier poultry education center 
  • Endowed Professorship to recognize and support the highly qualified professors who will educate the next generation of poultry specialists 
  • Fellowship awarded annually to an incoming or existing Auburn University graduate student to help prepare them for a lifetime of success in their careers and their contribution to the industry 

Impacting lives around the globe 

Both Aviagen and Auburn representatives agree that the work done at the Miller Poultry Research and Education Center is important to the future of our industry, as well as to our ability to help create a better future for the world.

Their research and innovation are vital to the sustainability of our industry, and we share the center’s mission to drive improvement that continually advances the industry and our ability to feed our ever- growing local and global communities with an affordable, nutritious source of protein,” commented Marc de Beer, president of Aviagen North America. 

Dr. William Dozier, head of Auburn University’s Department of Poultry Science, added, “We appreciate Aviagen’s support and the company’s commitment to research and educating our future poultry industry leaders. Aviagen’s contribution will help our department pursue research that addresses pressing industry needs and improve the final product that consumers bring into their homes. At Auburn, our goal is to help prepare our students to learn in an environment where production meets education. What they learn during their time with us will ensure that their work impacts lives around the globe.”
