Quick service restaurant chain Wings Over launched the All-New Original Tender Sandwich, a crispy chicken tender on a top-split butter-toasted bun topped with one of 25 Signature flavors and a ranch or blue cheese drizzle.
“Everyone is trying to create a good chicken sandwich, which we’ve been doing for years, but we knew we had an opportunity to create something truly unique and special with our Hand-Breaded Tenders. We designed the perfect tender sandwich that can be enjoyed in 25 different flavors, not just Regular or Spicy, at a very appropriate price point. This sandwich sets a whole new standard in the chicken sandwich wars,” says Dan Leyva, Wings Over’s Chief Wing Officer.

“As far as flavor combinations, we suggest our Medium Buffalo with a Blue Cheese drizzle or our Honey BBQ with a Ranch drizzle. You can choose any combination you’d like... the possibilities are endless,” Leyva continues.
Wings Over is a growing quick service restaurant chain with more than 30 locations throughout the Eastern U.S. The chain’s menu also features the Classic Chicken, Chicken Bacon Ranch, and Buffalo Chicken sandwiches. All feature lettuce and tomato, a choice of hand-breaded or grilled chicken and a new buttermilk marinade, according to Wings Over's website.
Chicken sandwich wars continue
Fried chicken sandwiches remain popular with consumers following the 2019 chicken sandwich wars. Although Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Chick-fil-A remain the industry leaders, new chicken offerings continue to enter the market every day. Between January and June 2021, 95 chicken sandwiches were launched to the market, an average of 3.8 per week.
Taco Bell even got in on the chicken sandwich action. In August 2021, the brand unveiled the Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco. Described as “fluffy like a sandwich, but folded like a taco,” the offering featured all white meat crispy chicken marinated with jalapeno buttermilk, seasoned with Mexican spices and rolled in a crunchy tortilla chip coating.
