Updates to Ovotrack 4 and Ovocloud, the egg traceability and data storage technologies from Netherlands-based company Ovotrack, were unveiled at the International Production and Processing Expo, held in Atlanta, U.S., in late January 2022.

Ovotrack 4 will gradually replace Ovotrack 3. With additional updates, the technology is now platform independent, meaning that the software can be used on personal computers, tablets and smartphones as long as they are in the same network with multiple sessions able to be open at the same time.

Additionally, Ovotrack 4 is more advanced than Ovotrack 3, allowing user accounts to be more personalized. Users can now access usage analytics while the design of the Ovotrack 4 interface is simpler for inexperienced users to understand and learn.

Using the remote data storage system, Ovocloud, remote access to all production information will be available. Real-time management can be conducted, even when not at the plant, and traceability, grading/breaking results and inventory information are immediately accessible.

Ovotrack’s process flow

The company’s process flow it recommends to utilize its system is as follows:

  1. Users print farm labels and hand them out to the farmers.
  2. After receiving eggs, farm labels are scanned, or new labels are printed to be applied and scanned. Pallet labels for packaging material can also be generated at receive.
  3. Barcode information is sent to grading machines while eggs are being loaded.
  4. Grading and traceability information from the grading machines is processed in the system.
  5. Egg cases or pallets are labelled with the applicable purchase order and other relevant information.
  6. During palletizing, labels can be scanned and a new pallet label can be printed.
  7. Pallet labels are scanned to connect them to a sales order at shipping.
  8. If customers utilize an ERP system, the information can be forwarded.

Ovotrack and SANOVO

In May 2020, SANOVO made a strategic investment in Ovotrack and agreed to work together to strengthen the two companies’ places in the market. However, Ovotrack still operates independently.

After the announcement, Job Beekhuis, Ovotrack CEO, stated “The market has changed and become mature in the last decade. Traceability and inventory management are now crucial requirements for the egg and poultry sector. And we need a strategic partner to help us to accelerate our growth, so that we can keep servicing this growing market. We have been working together with SANOVO for a long time and we are very happy to strengthen our position with this partnership.”
