With the 2022 general elections coming up in November, more and more candidates are stepping up to contest House and Senate seats.

One of these candidates is Tyler Dees, the director of business development for poultry and pet food company Simmons, Foods Inc. Dees is running for Arkansas state Senate District 35 as one of three Republican candidates.

In a campaign announcement Dee said, “the conservative values of our district are worth fighting for in Little Rock. The farmers, the blue collar workers, the guys I grew up playing ball with, I want to represent them and their families. They don't want lifetime politicians telling them how to live and what to believe. We need to protect their rights by limiting government."

Dees Republican opponents are Rep. Gayla McKenzie, R-Gravette, and Gentry businessman Jeff Tennant. There will also be Libertarian candidate Doug Peterson and there will be no Democratic candidates.

"When the state does get involved with economic development, the legislature needs to make sure that small businesses and entrepreneurs don't get overlooked," Dees said.

The primary will occur on May 24, and the election will be November 8.

Dees is also the director of national sales accounts for Simmons Foods and leads the Walmart and Sam’s Club team.

“Simmons Prepared Foods ranks in the top 15 poultry producers in the United States, Simmons Pet Food is the largest supplier of store brand wet pet food in North America,” according to its website.
