Dr. Danny McDonald has joined Control Solutions in the role of technical services manager for the Martin’s Brand and CSI-Production Animal divisions. For the past 17 years, Dr. McDonald has studied the ecology and management of invasive insect pests and their impact on agriculture and urban ecosystems. During this time, he spent 5 years as a consultant for the poultry and swine industry at a major distributor of animal health products.
Dr. McDonald always had natural curiosity for science, particularly plant and insect biology and biodiversity. His journey really progressed when he began working at a plant nursery at sixteen. He discovered that he was a naturalist, passionate about learning everything he could about plants, birds and insects. McDonald received his B.S. in horticulture and M.S. in agriculture from Tarleton State University. His Ph.D. in entomology was earned from Texas A&M University. Dr. McDonald’s major focuses of research included leafhopper vectors of Pierce's disease in grapevines, the invasion of the tawny crazy ant along the Gulf Coast and litter beetles in poultry barns.
Originally from Weatherford, TX, McDonald now lives in Santa Fe, TX, with his wife and 3 daughters. He enjoys working in his family garden, traveling, camping and fishing. Additionally, McDonald trains and competes in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
