Paris, France to host 2022’s World’s Poultry Congress

The French branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) is hosting the 26th World’s Poultry Congress (WPC) in Paris, France.

The French branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) is hosting the 26th World’s Poultry Congress (WPC) in Paris, France. WPC will be hosted at the Palais des Congrès, located in the center of Paris at Porte Maillot, on August 7-11, 2022.

The five-day program will represent 100 countries on 1,200 square meters of exhibition space with 60 exhibitors and over 3,000 participants. The species covered at the event will include chicken, turkey, Pekin duck, Muscovy duck, guineafowl, geese, quail, pigeons, pheasants and red and grey partridges.

The scientific program contains object-oriented sessions and specialized sessions covering sustainability, health, nutrition, genetics, meat quality, broiler management and more. Additionally, 10 plenary talks addressing issues in the poultry industry will occur all day on the 8th and the morning of the 11th. Sessions are scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM and will conclude at 5:30 PM.

The plenary sessions:

  • Opportunities offered by genomic selection to breed for diverse production systems
  • How far can we go with enhancing the environmental sustainability of poultry systems?
  • Mitigating the environmental impacts of poultry production
  • Global challenges for the economy of the poultry sector
  • Epigenetics, domestication, feralization and adaptation
  • PGC & Genome Editing: from laboratory to practice
  • Ethical issues of biotechnologies in animal production
  • Avian Influenza in a One Health Framework
  • Highlights from studies on poultry microbiome: what is missing to turn research into innovation
  • The intestinal microbiota, a central actor in the development of the immune response

The program also includes an exhibition for companies within the Congress Centre, a Youth program and a Young Scientist program. Participants can visit a poultry private research site and a free-range poultry production site on the 12th.

WPC occurs every four years, with the last event taking place in 2016. Due to COVID-19, the event has been rescheduled twice. Abstracts received for the two rescheduled times are included in the final version of the scientific program. 

Registration fees include admission to all scientific plenary and parallel sessions, access to exhibition and poster area, admission to the welcome reception and all webinars.
