ISE Foods Inc., Japan’s largest egg producer, announced its latest shell egg brand ISE Egg Premium on June 22, 2022.

The company plans to use its ISE Integration System for production in Punjab through its Indian division. ISE Foods’ Punjab partner will use the company’s Vitamin E enhanced feed formulation for its hens. ISE Egg Premium includes white eggs sold in a 6-count carton priced at INR 110 (US$1.40).

An ISE grading and packing facility, located adjacent to the Punjab poultry farm, will process, wash and sanitize the eggs though use of an ultraviolet light cycle. After the eggs are packed, they will be transported on a reefer truck at 15 Celsius.

Production is planned to begin on June 27, 2022.

ISE Egg Premium will be available for purchase at traditional and prime modern supermarkets, as well as trade centers including Modern Bazar, Yamato-YA, Spencer, Le-Marche Retails and The New Shop in Delhi.  The distributors are located in Chandigarh and Delhi, National Capital Region. Consumers can also purchase the product through the company’s website.

According to ISE Foods, it hopes the new brand will help build India's cold chain system.

"It is the 70th anniversary of the India-Japan diplomatic relationship this year. How appropriate and symbolic it is that Japanese technology is transferred and is helping boost India collaboratively," stated Mitsuko Takahashi, ISE-Suzuki Egg India COO.

ISE Foods’ beginning in India

ISE Foods did not join India’s egg industry until 2019. Three years ago, two layer farms were built by the producer. One is located in Surat city in western Gujarat and the other in Siddipet in central Telegana.

The farms are a part of the company’s ISE Integration System, which covers the whole production cycle from feed to egg collection, packaging, quality control and transportation.

Additionally, the farms compost and pellet the poultry manure from the layer barns to produce an odor-free fertilizer.
