After 40 years of service in the primary breeding industry, Ian S. Panton will retire from his position as chairman of Aviagen Holding Group effective December 31, 2009.

Panton began serving in leadership positions at Ross Breeders Inc. in the 1970s before becoming its president in 1992. When Ross merged with Arbor Acres and LIR to form Aviagen in 1999, he became the new company’s CEO, a position he held until 2008.

“With his tremendous experience and his know-how, Ian played a vital role in Aviagen’s success story,” said Dirk Wesjohann of the EW Group, of which Aviagen is a subsidiary. “We are pleased that he has agreed to stay on with the EW Group as a non-executive director, acting as a consultant.”
