Foster Farms increased the entry-level pay rate for its workers in the Livingston, California, area.

The new rate, which was made effective this week, is $20 per hour for entry-level workers. At the same time, these workers will qualify for a comprehensive health care plan, as well as coverage through disability insurance and liability insurance plans.

In addition, Foster Farms is presently reviewing its vacation policy that would enable team members to accumulate vacation time earlier and provide them with paid time off to tend to personal and family matters.

“This challenging economy and our commitment to take care of our valued team members requires us to not only be competitive in our industry, but also within the communities in which we operate from a wages and benefits perspective,” said Arturo Towns, Foster Farms. “This is an important first step in building a culture nobody wants to walk away from.”

Foster Farms, according to the WATTPoultry.com Top Companies Database, is the nation’s 12th largest broiler producer and 14th largest turkey producer. It operates facilities in California, Oregon, Washington, Alabama and Louisiana. It's headquarters are in Livingston.

In June, it was announced that Foster Farms was acquired by Atlas Holdings, and that former Tyson Foods CEO Donnie Smith was hired to be the CEO and chairman of Foster Farms.
