The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced the recall of three lines of chicken wiener products produced by Maple Lodge Farms.

These products are being recalled from the marketplace because they contain an undeclared allergen, pea protein.

According to the CFIA, the products being recalled are:

  • Maple Lodge Farms original chicken wieners, sold in 450-gram packages. These products carry the UPC code 0 67714 00001 6, and have best before dates ranging from June 30, 2022, to September 28, 2022.
  • Zabiha Halal original chicken wieners, sold in 450-gram packages. These products carry the UPC code 0 67714 00203 4, and have best before dates ranging from June 30, 2022, to September 28, 2022.
  • Zabiha Halal corn dogs, sold in 1-kilogram packages. These products carry the UPC code 0 67714 00838 8 and have best before dates ranging from May 5, 2023, to June 14, 2023.

The recalled products have been sold nationally in Canada. The recall was recalled by a consumer complaint.

CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. The industry is removing the suspect products from the marketplace.

A recall of similar Maple Lodge Farms products was issued in 2017, but in that instance it was because the products may have had bone fragments in them.
