BioChek announces NPIP approval

BioChek announces NPIP approval.

BioChek, a worldwide leader in veterinary diagnostics, is very pleased to announce that a Full National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) approval was granted on June 10th, 2022, to the BioChek Salmonella qPCR reagents as a rapid test for the detection of Salmonella spp. in primary production samples.

With this approval, BioChek can now provide the US poultry industry with a fast, efficient and accurate Salmonella qPCR solution. Excellent performance of the reagents was demonstrated during the NPIP validation studies (diagnostic sensitivity: 100% - diagnostic specificity: 99.6% - with an observed agreement of 99.7% between the BioChek Salmonella spp. qPCR reagents and the reference method).

Thanks to this final approval, the way is paved for BioChek to become an important player in the Salmonella spp. qPCR Animal Health market in the US.

Scope

Accurately detecting and monitoring the presence of DNA from Salmonella species in house environmental samples, cloacal swabs and hatchery samples.

Validated workflow

The Salmonella qPCR Reagents workflow comprises DNA extraction followed by real-time PCR detection, designed for highly specific and sensitive screening of Salmonella in 24 hours only, including NPIP-approved pre-enrichment in Tetrathionate (TT) broth.

Salmonella qPCR Reagents benefits

Cost-efficient workflow against other available methods:

  • Effectively help feed mills, broiler breeders’ farms, hatcheries and processing plants to closely monitor, control and react to emerging pathogens in poultry and poultry products.
  • Meet regulatory requirements and help guarantee the safety of end consumers.
  • Support streamlining operational processes.
