Money designated for re-opening of food processing plant

Custom Poultry Processing LLC has received a $250,000 loan from the Iowa Economic Development Board for a poultry facility in Charles City, Iowa, according to a state government press release. The company plans to remodel the former Allstate Quality Foods plant for slaughter, processing and packaging of poultry for specialty markets. At full capacity, it would employ 126 people and process more than 14 million chickens annually.

According to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, the plant will specialize in organic, halal, antibiotic-free and private-label poultry.
