MAPI looking for new leadership

MAPI looking for new exec director.

Michigan Allied Poultry Industries (MAPI), a non-profit statewide trade organization representing Michigan’s egg, chicken and turkey farmers, is seeking a new executive director in Q4 of 2022.

Allison Brink, who has served as executive director since 2016, and has successfully led the organization through numerous legislative hurdles and animal health issues, is stepping down to pursue her expanding agricultural consulting business as well as devote more time to other family businesses.

“Allison has transformed MAPI from a modest, family-farmer contributing organization into one with clout and influence in the state agriculture community. She is an advocate and a true believer in Michigan’s family farmer, and her leadership placed Michigan at the forefront of the nation’s poultry industry,” said Mat Stutzman, president of the MAPI board of directors. “For the past six years, Allison has successfully navigated us through significant changes in the egg, broiler and turkey industries. She leaves MAPI stronger than when she arrived.”

Among the changes and issues include: Michigan taking a leading role on cage-free eggs, which is being replicated in states across the country; successfully navigating a Highly Pathenogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak during 2022 and supporting farmers and processors during the devastating COVID-19 shutdowns and the subsequent supply chain disruptions.

“The next executive director will be our guide for the future, which includes navigating the implementation of new regulations for farmers and producers and ensuring that Michigan continues its leadership in the agricultural supply chain,” added Stutzman.

MAPI is an independent, non-profit organization, and the executive director reports directly to the MAPI board, composed of family farmers and processors for the past 80 years. The executive director will develop and implement a strategic plan, including priorities for programs and a sustainable financial plan. The executive director represents poultry and egg producers in the state of Michigan. The position is also responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of MAPI, including fund development, events, marketing and board management, by working with diverse staff, constituents and contract partners.

Interested applicants can find the full job description on the MAPI LinkedIn page and may submit a resume and cover letter to [email protected] by October 19.
