Tyson Foods introduced its new Egg Bites product through its Jimmy Dean brand on October 20, 2022.

The product is marketed as an on-the-go breakfast option to be prepared in the microwave. Egg Bites contains 270 calories and 17 grams of protein per serving. As of now, the product can only be purchased on the frozen breakfast isle in U.S. Walmart stores.

The new Bites comes in packs of two with a retail price of $2.99 and is available in two varieties: Meat Lovers and Sausage & Three Cheese.

More frozen breakfast options

COVID-19 created an opportunity for companies to provide easy, at home meal options for consumers who were cooking at home more frequently than before.

In February 2021, Tyson Foods launched two Jimmy Dean breakfast products called Loaded Sausage Bites and Omelet Minis. The Loaded Sausage Bites contains 16 - 19 grams of protein and is available in Meat Lovers or Turkey Sausage. Omelet Minis contains 13 - 14 grams of protein and is available in Sausage & Cheddar and Gouda & Bacon.

In April 2021, Tyson introduced two more breakfast options called Jimmy Dean Breakfast Nuggets and Skillets. The Breakfast Nuggets contains 11 grams of protein per serving and is available in two varieties: Sausage, Egg & Cheese and Chicken Sausage, Egg & Cheese. The Skillets contains seasoned meats, vegetables and cheese, but requires the addition of six eggs when cooking. The Skillets contains 13 -14 grams of protein per serving when prepared.

"Breakfast habits continue to change as families navigate new routines," said Chris Olson, Jimmy Dean Senior Brand Manager, last year. "At the start of 2020, people were cooking every meal at home, including breakfast. Over time, however, peoples' energy for making multiple fresh meals throughout the day has waned, with 25% of people tired of cooking.”
