Peco Foods employee killed in accident

An employee of Peco Foods was fatally injured in an accident in the truck shop at the company’s complex in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

An employee of Peco Foods was fatally injured in an accident in the truck shop at the company’s complex in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

The accident occurred on the morning of November 14, according to a report from KAIT.

While not many details about the accident have been released, Peco Foods acknowledged that there was a fatality, releasing the following statement: “… One of our team members was involved in a fatal accident in the Pocahontas truck shop. Our thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with their loved ones. Safety is our top priority and has been since our company’s founding. We are working with the proper authorities to ensure a thorough investigation of this incident is completed.”

The name of the deceased has not been disclosed.

The complex in Pocahontas was constructed in 2015, with plans for the plant to have the capacity to process 1.3 million chickens per week.

In January 2021, Peco Foods announced that operations would be added to the Pocahontas complex while it closed plants in Brooksville and Canton, Mississippi and consolidated those operations into the facilities in Pocahontas, as well as Sebastopol and West Point, Mississippi.

In 2020, the Pocahontas processing plant was recognized with an Award of Distinction from the Joint Industry Safety and Health Council.
