In response to the threat of salmonella contamination, the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority in the United Arab Emirates has issued a recall of eggs from Spain.
Inspectors have visited retail markets to ensure the products are no longer on the shelves, the Khaleej Times of Dubai reported. The authority is conducting tests of random samples of Spanish eggs to determine the level and extent of salmonella contamination, according to the newspaper.
The recall comes in the wake of a recent salmonella outbreak in the United Kingdom that was traced back to an egg producer in Spain.
