MPS Egg Farms (MPS) announced the acquisition of Georgia-based egg producer Country Charm Eggs on February 21, 2023.

The purchase expands MPS’s flock by almost two million birds and puts the producer in four states: Indiana, Illinois, Texas and Georgia.

Additionally, the expansion promotes brothers Sam Krouse and Dan Krouse to co-CEOs. Previously, Sam was MPS vice president of business development and Dan was MPS vice president of operations.

“MPS has been intentional about growth – doing so in a strategic way that leverages our commitment to customer excellence and high quality, while also aligning with businesses that share our core values and our unwavering dedication to animal care and food safety,” stated Sam Krouse. “The Booker family has built an incredible foundation of personalized customer service and a thriving egg business thanks to an exceptional team of employees, and we are honored to carry that legacy forward under the MPS banner.”

Dan Krouse added, “While MPS has Midwestern roots, we have an exciting future ahead as a national egg producer, serving a wide range of customers with the same outstanding service, high-quality products, attention-to-detail and commitment to doing all that is needed to deliver on that promise.”

MPS produces carbon neutral eggs, too

MPS’s acquisition of Country Charm Eggs is not the only recent business move it has made in the last few months.

In December 2022, MPS opened the U.S.’s first carbon neutral egg farm in Indiana. To do so, it partnered with Dutch egg company Kipster and grocery store chain Kroger.

The partnership allowed MPS Egg Farms to be the first commercial egg producer in the country to adopt and construct this type of production model, which includes open areas of outdoor and indoor access. The house can be viewed on a 24/7 livestream and consumers can visit the farm’s visitor center in person.

The eggs can be purchased in Kroger locations across Michigan and the Cincinnati area. The eggs are sold co-branded with Kroger’s label as Simple Truth + Kipster
