Novus International Teaching Award nominations open

Nominations for the Poultry Science Association’s (PSA) annual Novus International Teaching Award are open until March 1, 2023.

Nominations for the Poultry Science Association’s (PSA) annual Novus International Teaching Award are open until March 1, 2023. 

The award is meant “to recognize that excellence in teaching is basic to the future welfare of the poultry industry and to aid continued professional improvement through travel, study, and other means,” according to the PSA’s website. 

Who is eligible?

Eligible nominees must be current members of the PSA, actively engaged in resident teaching and must not be a former award recipient. 

“We are fortunate to have a large group of talented poultry scientists that teach, and this award represents an excellent opportunity to showcase these contributions,” wrote Deborah Adewole, chair of the PSA’s teaching committee. “We appreciate your help in identifying individuals who excel in poultry science education and are deserving of this prestigious award.”

Along with the other PSA awards, the Novus award will be presented at the 2023 PSA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

How to nominate

To nominate oneself or someone else, applicants must provide the following information:

  • Email and organization name 
  • Nomination letter 
  • Resume and cover letter 
  • Statement of teaching philosophy
  • Maximum of six letters of support from colleagues, students or administrators

2022’s Novus award winner 

Mississippi State University Professor Kelley Wamsley was the 2022 award recipient and was recognized for her 40% teaching appointment, research regarding broiler performance and feed quality, 140 publications, student mentorships and much more.
