Nikkei: KFC Japan’s profits rise 220%

Sales boost attributed to menu changes and takeout

The Nikkei reported that Kentucky Fried Chicken Japan Ltd.’s profits increased 220% in the 12 months ending Nov. 30, 2009, to about ¥3.5B. Sales reached ¥92.5B, a same-store sales increase of about 6%.

The Nikkei credited the chain’s takeout options and increased responsiveness in changing the menu with helping overall sales.

After The Nikkei’sannouncement, shares rose ¥13 to 13 to 1,663 on Jan.7, according to the newspaper.
