Brazil-based poultry and pork company BRF has gained additional clearance to ship products to China, the company said in an announcement to the market on its investor relations webpage.

According to the announcement, the company’s production facility in Lucas do Rio Verde, in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, was authorized by the General Administration of Customs China (GACC) to export chicken and pork meat to China.

This follows two earlier announcements in which the company obtained authorization to export chicken meat produced at its production unit in Marau, Rio Grande do Sul, and by Companhia Minuano de Alimentos, an exclusive supplier of products to BRF.

This latest authorization, according to the company, “provides relevant proteins production and commercialization capacity, besides promoting flexibility and greater agility to capture the best market opportunities.

The announcement, dated May 16, is signed by BRF Chief Financial and Investor Relations Officer Fabio Luis Mendes Mariano.

BRF, according to the WATTPoultry.com Top Poultry Companies Database, is the world’s third largest poultry producer, having slaughtered 1.72 million birds during the past year. Formerly known as Brasil Foods, the company formed  with the association between Sadia and Perdigao.
