Ten young agricultural journalists from around the world have won awards to attend the 2010 International Federation of Agricultural Journalists Congress in Belgium this April. The IFAJ-Alltech Young Leaders in Agricultural Journalism awards provide allowances of €1,000 to promising young IFAJ members to support their participation at an IFAJ Congress. Winners are:

  • Andrea Bahrenberg, Germany
  • Liza Burger, South Africa
  • Jesus Colmenarejo, Spain
  • Margaret Donnelly, Ireland
  • Tatjana Kren Hlebic, Slovenia
  • Aleksandar Radovic, Serbia
  • Soledad Ricca, Argentina
  • Lilian Schaer, Canada
  • Terhi Torikka, Finland
  • Sarah Trickett, United Kingdom

Winners will contribute a 500-word story or a three-minute broadcast about their Congress experiences to IFAJ News or the Federation's Web site.

The IFAJ-Alltech Young Leaders in Agricultural Journalism awards are now in their fifth year. With the support of global animal health company Alltech, the awards have grown from supporting just two journalists the first year. IFAJ is a non-political, professional association for agricultural journalists. IFAJ supports and encourages the practice of agricultural journalism in countries embracing freedom of the press.
