The Partnership for Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) has sent a letter to sixty-one members of the U.S. Senate urging them to help block potential greenhouse gas regulation by the Environmental Protection Agency. The letter asks the senators to support a resolution by Sens. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., that opposes greenhouse gas action by EPA without congressional directive. PACE has argued that aggressive regulation or taxation of carbon dioxide could cause electricity bills to as much as double in areas with high utilization of fossil fuels, such as the Southeast.
