Big Dutchman, based in Vechta, Germany, announced that two recent projects near the Netherlands-Germany have brought the total capacity of its Natura aviaries to 25 million laying hens. The newest aviaries are owned by Dutch producer Roel van Zetten and can each house 45,000 birds.

“We are very proud that Natura has become the leading system for floor, free range and ecological bird management, and thank our customers who have helped [us] to reach this goal,” said Bernd Kuhlencord, Big Dutchman managing director.

According to the company, the newest product in its Natura line is the Natura-Step, an aviary that can be installed in single rows. Stepped construction allows birds to move between the different levels without leaving the system.
