National Poultry Improvement Plan sets diamond anniversary conference

Event to be held Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 in San Diego

The 40th Biennial Conference of the National Poultry Improvement Plan is scheduled for August 31-September 2, 2010, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, Calif.

The conference marks the seventy-fifth, or diamond, anniversary of the National Poultry Improvement Plan, which is run by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Official state delegates from over 40 states will deliberate on more than 30 proposed changes to the provisions of the plan. These changes will impact compartmentalization, notifiable avian influenza, avian mycoplasmas, isolation and identification of salmonella and review of new rapid assays for certain disease agents.
