VIV Europe news: Show newcomer highlights biosecurity

New product preview

VIV Europe Hotline, 21 April:  A first-time exhibitor at VIV Europe has been celebrating the first year of its new identity, on the occasion of the international trade fair being held at Utrecht in the Netherlands. Dow Microbial Control was formed a year ago as a unit of Dow Biosciences, within US-based business group Dow Chemical Co.

In addition to announcing that it will open a new state-of-the-art customer application centre in Europe in June this year, the company has used its VIV Europe presence to herald a proposed mid-2010 launch in the US of a pine-scented version of glutaraldehyde sanitizer Glutex – subject to the necessary EPA approval for product registration.

“We are also working hard on registering this year in other countries including China,” says José Mosquera, who joined Dow Microbial Control last year when it was created from Dow’s acquisition of Rohm & Haas and is now the strategic marketing manager for hygiene and disinfection solutions.

“Our Glutex brand has already become well known among farmers and stakeholders and our participation at VIV Europe has confirmed that animal biosecurity continues to be of growing importance in many regions of the world,” he continues.

“Here at the fair, my colleague Michal Drozdowski (regional commercial manager for Central Eastern Europe and Turkey) and I have noted especially the interest shown by Eastern European visitors. It is clear to us that the subject of biosecurity receives more attention in such areas with the growth of the market and the evolution of production systems.”
