FLEXcombo pig vaccine receives European approval

Allows protection with one injection

A German firm has been given the OK to use a combination pig vaccine in the EU that protects the animals against diseases associated with the circovirus and the enzootic pneumonia agent Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.

Boehringer Ingelheim announced that its FLEXcombo pairing Ingelvac CircoFLEX and Ingelvac MycoFLEX as received formal approval by the Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use, the EU agency that authorizes changes in marketing of existing veterinary medical products.

The combination vaccine is already registered in the US, Canada, the Philippines, South Korea and New Zealand. Giving the vaccine this way allows these diseases to be prevented with a single injection instead of up to four. An average of more than 70% of European pigs currently receive vaccines for the two diseases.
