Cargill to build new facility in Wichita

Complex replaces former industrial building

Cargill's U.S. meat business plans to build a 75,000-square-foot, $14.7 million facility with research, development, culinary, laboratory, pilot plant and distribution capabilities in Wichita, Kan., the firm’s headquarters. Construction on the two-story Cargill Innovation Center is scheduled to begin in July with completion projected for June 2011.

The food innovation facility will keep 65 jobs in Wichita. It replaces a 210,000-square-foot building, which is in an industrial area and was once a meat processing plant. The company recently sold that property.
