Novus headquarters adds sustainable landscaping

Participates in new green landscape program

Novus International’s suburban St. Louis, Mo., headquarters will be among the first to take part in a new program testing the nation’s first rating system for green landscape design, construction and maintenance. The Sustainable Sites Initiative is taking place at 150 pilot sites from 34 states, plus Canada, Iceland and Spain.

The animal health and nutrition firm earned a Platinum LEED certification, the highest green building distraction given by the U.S. Green Building Council, for its facility in 2009. The new landscape system evaluates sustainable landscapes with and without buildings. Sustainable landscapes can clean water, reduce pollution and restore habitats, while providing significant economic and social benefits to land owners and municipalities.
