The BBC reported that Moy Park will buy O’Kane poultry, a deal expected to take several months to complete. The merger would create one of the largest chicken producers in the UK.

Together, the large Northern Ireland poultry firms would have 8,500 employees, 5,000 of them based in Northern Ireland. The merger would enable reduction of about 30 redundant business functions. About 300 farmers now producing chickens for O'Kane would change to Moy Park, owned by Marfrig, a Brazilian food firm.
