Pilgrim’s Pride to reopen plant

$30 million being invested

Pilgrim's Pride will hire up to 1,400 workers and invest in reopening its currently closed Coffee County, Ga., chicken processing complex, the Associated Press reported.

An investment of $30 million, the complex is set to reopen by January 2011.

Company officials and Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue recently gathered in Douglas, Ga., to celebrate reopening the plant that will likely process approximately 1.3 million chickens a week by summer 2011.
