The China Health Ministry said that a pregnant Chinese woman died after contracting bird flu, according to a report in AFP. It’s the first death reported from the virus since 2009 and the 26th in China since the 2003.
The ministry said the woman, 22 and four months pregnant, died earlier in June. She became ill in May, and had been diagnosed with the H5N1 avian influenza one day before dying in the Hubei province.
