Fernbrook Bio to have biogas plant

Plant will convert waste into electricity

Germany-based Weltec BioPower GmbH will complete a 1 megawatt biogas plant by the end of this year for British firm Fernbrook Bio. The plant, owned by Rothwell Lodge Farm in East Midlands, has an integrated unpacking and separation system and shredder.

The plant is expected to convert 30,000 tons of biowaste and manure from the farm’s cattle herd into electricity. Two fermenters will also handle 106,000 cubic feet each of waste from nearby farms to provide power and heat to 2,000 homes.
