Pork Board to replace tagline

Seeks to revive stagnant sales

The National Pork Board wants to replace a 20-year-old slogan to improve sales according to an Associated Press report. Pork was branded as “The Other White Meat” 23 years ago, but the tagline will be remade in a new campaign set to launch March 2011.

The amount of pork consumed has remained at 50 pounds a year for the average American, while chicken has increased from about 55 pounds in 1988 to over 83 pounds in 2008. The old slogan won’t be completely dropped, but won’t be the focus of its campaign.
