UK pork returns to the Philippines

Disease fears finally allayed

The Philippines has re-opened its market for pig meat to the UK for the first time since the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Britain in 2007.

Welcoming the news, British Pig Executive international manager Peter Hardwick said: "This has all happened in the last four weeks and already two or three consignments have been exported. The Philippines is a very important market for the fifth quarter and offal and we have hopes the trade will grow rapidly."
