Codex retains limits for Ractopamine in Elanco products

Main ingredient found in Paylean®, Optaflexx®

Elanco Animal Health has announced that the Codex Alimentarius Commission has decided to retain the Maximum Residue Limits for Ractopamine at Step 8, confirming human safety standards.

“We are pleased that Codex has reaffirmed the scientific foundation as provided by the Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives so that consumers can have confidence in international food safety standards,” said Jeff Simmons, president of Elanco.

Ractopamine is the active ingredient in Elanco Paylean for swine and Optaflexx for cattle.
