An Associated Press report in the Times Herald-Record said officials offered few details, but the department had previously expressed concern over Murray's Chicken's ability to control contaminants like salmonella at its aging facility.

Murray's Chicken stopped production at its South Fallsburg, N.Y., plant, putting 350 people who processed 35,000 chickens a day out of work. The company said its products are safe, noting the company has been told to correct "facility issues."
